Treatment of Hemorrhoids with Acupuncture and Herbs:
There are several pattern pathologies that cause Hemorrhoids in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Intestinal Wind will have bright red blood, little or no pain and no other symptoms. Dryness of the Intestine usually occurs with chronic constipation. Damp Heat will have inflammation, swelling, pain with a red tongue, greasy coat and rapid, slippery pulse. Spleen deficiency allows Qi (energy) to sink resulting in protruding hemorrhoids and possibly even anal prolapse with feelings of fatigue and bloating after meals.

Herbal Formulas for Hemorrhoids:
Internal:
Hem-X is a well-balanced herbal formula that address all of the above causes of hemorrhoids. It is a customized classic formula that I have worked on extensively and modified for contemporary use.
Topical:
The topical herbal formula is a hemorrhoids cream invented several hundred years ago by the Ma Ying Long family. It is the most commonly used hemorrhoids medicine in China for itching, burning, and discomfort. It clears toxic heat, removes the putrid tissues and promotes regeneration. The ointment is also used to relieve pain and swelling caused by hemorrhoids and anal fissures.
Dietary Suggestions:
Avoid fatty foods and deep fried meats or fast-food hamburgers, and cut down alcohol consumption, especially wine.
Eat more fiber to help soften the stool and reduce the strain.
Drink eight glasses of water each day.
Take 1000-3000 mg of vitamin C per day, to helps maintain the integrity of veins, and eat more flavonoids and anthocyanins. Sources of flavonoids include lemons, limes, apples, tomatoes, onions and carrots; sources of anthocyanins include dark, red berries, blueberries, cherries, grapes and red cabbage.
Another natural food remedy for hemorrhoids is to eat a banana on an empty stomach every day.
Acupuncture Program For Hemorrhoids:
The treatment protocol for Hemorrhoids is one-two treatments week one followed by one treatment per week for two weeks and then once a month or as needed.
Chinese Herbal formulas are used internally and externally for the duration of treatment and as needed thereafter for prevention.
